It is understood that on the night of the incident, the two men planned to go fishing in the river. When they were paddling on a paddle board, they found that the board was leaking air. Due to the loss of power, they were washed to a shallow beach about 500 meters downstream. They searched around the river island for two hours but couldn't find a way back to the shore. They had no choice but to call the police for help. During the flood season, the water volume increases and the water level of the river keeps rising. Many anglers ignore the risk of drowning during the flood season. Head to rivers, ponds, reservoirs and ditches to experience the joy of fishing.
But incidents of people getting trapped while wild fishing are not uncommon...
Case One
In May 2023, a man in Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province, was trapped on a 50-meter-high cliff while fishing and was in critical condition. The man immediately called the rescue number. The firefighters who arrived at the scene first used a drone for aerial reconnaissance and identified the location of the trapped people through thermal imaging, and then carried out a series of rescue operations. Under the escort of firefighters, the man was transferred to a safe place.
Case Two
On the afternoon of August 15, 2025, in Laohekou, Dajiawa Sub-district, Binhai District, Weifang City, Shandong Province, four people from other places were fishing. Due to their unfamiliarity with the tide conditions, they failed to evacuate in time when the tide rose. The rising tide cut off their route back to the shore and they were trapped at two wind power generation devices in the middle of the river. After nearly twenty minutes of emergency rescue by the fire and rescue personnel, the trapped people were successfully rescued.
